Why a Home Lift Cabin Can Shake After Installation — And How to Fix It Properly

Recently, we assisted a customer with the installation of a home lift from Beacon Industries. After the cabin was installed, the customer noticed that the cabin had some shaking and movement during operation.

After checking the installation details together, we quickly found the main reason:

The platform and frame had only been fixed with bolts, but they were not welded together.

This is one of the most direct reasons that can cause cabin vibration or instability on a home lift platform.

Why We Do Not Fully Weld the Platform Before Shipping

Some customers may wonder:

“Why not weld everything completely at the factory?”

The answer is simple: shipping cost.

If the platform is fully welded before shipment, the overall package size becomes much larger. International sea freight charges are heavily based on cargo volume. A larger package can significantly increase shipping costs for the customer.

To reduce transportation cost and make shipping more economical, we design the platform with pre-drilled bolt holes. This allows the structure to be shipped in a more compact form.

This is our platform, we drill the holes by laser cutting and make sure all the bolts exactly in right position:

The Correct Installation Method

We explained to the customer that the correct installation process should be:

Step 1 — Bolt Fixing First

Use bolts first to position and align the platform accurately with the frame.

The bolts are mainly for temporary positioning and alignment.

Step 2 — Spot Welding

After confirming the alignment, perform spot welding at several positions.

This helps hold the structure firmly while still allowing adjustment if needed.

Step 3 — Test Install the Cabin

Before full welding, install the cabin once and test the operation.

Check:

  • Cabin stability
  • Alignment
  • Smooth movement
  • Platform level

If everything works correctly, proceed to the next step.

Step 4 — Full Welding

Complete the full welding between the platform and frame.

The welding can be done in sections rather than one continuous weld to help control heat and deformation.

Step 5 — Final Cabin Installation

After welding is completed, reinstall the cabin.

The result should be:

  • Much stronger structure
  • Reduced vibration
  • Better stability
  • More solid and reliable operation

Proper Installation Is Just as Important as Manufacturing

Even with a strong structure and quality materials, correct installation remains extremely important for home lifts.

A well-installed platform will greatly improve:

  • Safety
  • Stability
  • Cabin comfort
  • Long-term durability

At Beacon Industries, we always try our best to support customers during installation and help solve problems quickly and efficiently.
